Smartphones

Back in the ’80s, people simply used phones to make calls. It could make calls and possibly send a text message – if you owned one of the advanced models. Smartphones are now pocket-sized supercomputers that manage a lot of tasks – email communication, GPS navigation, video calling, social media interaction, & even mobile payment. Can you even imagine living through 24 hours without having your smartphone?
The Internet & Wi-Fi

In the 1980s, the internet did exist, but its performance was slow, and its main users were researchers. Today, people everywhere can connect instantly with billions of others through the internet. And Wi-Fi? Back then, to check an email you needed physical connection through cables. Now, high-speed wireless internet provides constant connectivity for streaming media and remote work from any location at any time.
GPS Navigation

Remember those days when people printed directions from MapQuest or navigated with large paper maps? Before GPS technology, people navigated with paper maps. Modern phones and cars even provide live navigation that adjusts our route during heavy traffic. It’s even now hard to believe that people once stopped their cars to ask strangers for directions.
Streaming Services (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc.)

To watch a movie in the ’80s, you needed to either rent a VHS or visit the theater. Services like Netflix and YouTube now help users to stream huge libraries of movies and shows at any moment. For music access, we’ve moved past cassettes and CDs to get unlimited song streaming with just one tap.
Electric Cars

40 years ago, electric vehicles were just a dream – but today, they have become a practical reality. Tesla and other companies have developed electric vehicles that are faster and more efficient and some models even have self-driving abilities. Although gas stations will remain for a while, the transition to clean energy continues at a rapid pace.
Social Media

Before the arrival of Facebook, Instagram, & TikTok, people kept in touch with friends through phone calls or written letters. Social media platforms now connect people worldwide, and influence news distribution, entertainment creation, & business marketing strategies. Our communication methods have experienced permanent transformation now – for better or worse.
3D Printing

Picture yourself pushing a button and seeing a tangible item materialize before your eyes. That’s 3D printing! Engineers make prototypes with it, doctors manufacture medical implants, and astronauts build space tools using it. The possibilities are endless!
Drones

Drones have transitioned from pure fiction into common reality as they now capture impressive aerial footage and carry out delivery tasks while also assisting in rescue operations. Some companies have even started developing drone taxis for transportation purposes.
CRISPR & Gene Editing

The last few decades have seen tremendous progress in medical innovations. CRISPR is a major gene-editing breakthrough that helps scientists to manipulate DNA sequences. The technology could bring about solutions for genetic diseases, produce improved crops, and even eliminate illnesses before they occur.
AI & Smart Assistants (Siri, Alexa, ChatGPT, etc.)

AI once existed only in science fiction films but today it is in our phones, homes, and even workplaces. Whether it’s Siri setting reminders, Alexa controlling your smart home, or ChatGPT helping with research, AI is making life easier, one voice command at a time.
